Born in 1976, he lives and works halfway between Lugano and Zurich. Actually, he frequents Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) in Milan, but he has long practiced photography on a self-taught and experimental approach. He has received many acknowledgements, among them the Swiss Photo Award, obtained with “Good morning, Lugano”, 2012 edition (Ticinosette 2012, 5: 39-45). The following year he has been awarded the “2013 Artist of the Year” in the Bally Foundation for Culture, for “Metropolitan Portraits”, a current that since 2010 “silently” criticizes the homologation in photography. His interest goes deeper regarding the privacy in the mass photography era; in “Privacy-Free Zone”, Matteo employs photography to link Law and Contemporary Art. In 2016 he founds his own exhibition concept, called “F camera”, a place dedicated to innovative contemporary research in photography. He is actually working on a very structured system, the new series “Barcodes”, with Philip K. Dick-like cyberpunk/avant pop influences.
