Stefano Rota was born in Turin on October 1, 1961. As a member of the musician duo “Righeira”, between 1983 and 2007 he releases several record productions worldwide for which he is also author and co-producer. In 1983 and 1984, the singles “Vamos a la playa” and “No tengo dinero” get to sell internationally millions of copies; the video of “No tengo dinero”, of which he is artistic director, is awarded at the MIDEM in Cannes for Best European clip. In 1985 he wins the “Festivalbar” with the single “L’estate sta finendo”. In 1986 he participates to “Festival di Sanremo” with the song “Innamoratissimo”; he is awarded with the prize “Antonio De Curtis” for popular music. From 1992 to 2000 he interrupts the musical activity, dealing exclusively with the creation and development of content for the web. The musical activity starts again in 2001, always with his partner Johnson, with the release of “2001 Vamos a la playa”, which involves some of the most authoritative representatives of the international lounge scene, from the Germans “Le Hammond Inferno”, to the Venezuelans “Los Amigos Invisibles”, to the local “Montefiori Cocktail”. In 2007 the single “La musica elettronica” hits the Italian, German and French charts. As an actor, in 1984 together with Eleonora Giorgi he presents the TV show “Sotto le stelle”, twelve episodes on Rai Uno in prime time where he acts, for the first time, in several sketches. In 1985, he co-stars with Enrico Beruschi in a sketch for the TV show “Drive in”, broadcast on Italia Uno in prime time. In 1988 he takes part with Maria Amelia Monti to a scene for “La Tv delle ragazze” on Rai Tre. From February 2011 to June 2013 he studies with Michael Rodgers at his Acting Studio, working on texts by Shakespeare, Rostand, Cechov, Pirandello, Pinter, Albee, Shaffer, Shanley and Marber. In January 2014 Gabriele Calindri chooses him for the role of Dr. Rank for the staging of “Doll’s House” by H. Ibsen, directed by Calindri. After the preview at Teatro Alessandrino in Alessandria, the play debuted in May at Teatro Delfino in Milan, followed by a later tour the next season.
